If you are new to YOGA Woodlands is the perfect introduction to yoga as we introduce to the important aspects of a yoga practice, as well as allowing you to experience its benefits in a holistic way when combining it with our healing spa experiences.

What is yoga? Yoga is a tradition and a science with roots in ancient India that has evolved over centuries to embrace the wisdom of many places and times. Throughout history, it has been split into various “schools” focusing on different aspects of yoga. Each branch is of the same tree, the tree of the Self. Yoga means union.

What religion is yoga? Yoga is not a religion at all. It is a science of the breath and movement. Should I eat before class? It is ideal to practice on an empty stomach, or at least 2 1/2 hours after eating.What should I wear? Comfortable clothes you can move easily in are best for yoga. T-shirts and loose, stretchy pants work best. Yoga is practiced barefoot. You can change into your clothes upon arrival.

What should I bring? A yoga mat, shawl or light blanket, and an eye covering are recommended. We do however supply you with all of the above.Do I need to register in advance? Not for the morning classes. Just come a few minutes early to check in at the desk and acquaint yourself with our center.

Can I do yoga if I am pregnant? Yes! Definitely, and you can safely attend anyone of our classes. Please inform us!

What if I’m running late? Classes are open to all latecomers. We would prefer you get some practice rather than no practice at all.

Woodlands has expanded its yoga classes, offering yoga every day!!

From Monday to Thursday, classes are held at 7:15am to 8:15am with Laurika and 08:30am to 10am with Charlotte. On Tuesday and Thursday afternoon Lazane gives classes at 5pm to 6pm and on Sunday from 9am to 10am.

Apart from Charlotte Davies, who has been the yoga teacher at Woodlands for two years, Laurika van Wyk and Lazane De Langa have joined the team.

Charlotte’s number one passion in life is Yoga, and has been from a very young age. Charlotte is a
dynamic and passionate Yoga Teacher, Yoga Therapist, Montessori trained Nursery School
Teacher, Reiki Master, Breathwork Practitioner and Tea Ceremony Practitioner.

She has been practising Yoga for the past 20 years, since the age of 13. Charlotte completed her one year
comprehensive 500-hour course in 2013 and has been teaching Yoga full time ever since. Her studies and years of commitment to her Yoga practice have equipped her with a sound knowledge of various Yoga systems.

Laurika has a deep love and passion for guiding people towards a greater experience of health, wholeness and fulfilment. She believes that you can bring your whole life into balance by cultivating a connection to and awareness of your physical body first through self-love and gratitude, and rediscovering your hearts desires.

Lazane puts passion into anything she does. When Lazane started her yoga practice her intent was just to have a quick workout after class while studying drama. But when she discovered how yoga was helping her mentally it immediately reeled her in. Lazane’s passion for yoga exploded as the years went on and she decided to do her 200-hour teaching training course after she received her degree in drama. Her intent is to have people fall in love with yoga just as she has and to share her experiences with them. Her classes have great variety as she has done training in all types of yoga. Yogi Bears of Woodlands - Children’s Yoga

Every Wednesday afternoon starting on the 18th January from 14:30 –15:30

Children will join Charlotte in exploring popular yoga poses, breathing techniques, mindfulness as well as
dabbling in some creative craft! All they need is a little imagination, the breath and yoga to discover their connection to themselves and the world around them.
